Street Marketing in India – a photo essay

Of the many things that make India such an interesting place, its streets are a spectacular example. An Indian street is alive…the markets, the vendors, the shoppers, the different kinds of people…all add to the colour and the variety. One can watch a busy street from the balcony of one’s house and never get bored…because what you can see unfolding before you is life itself. This particular photo feature is just a small peek at the street markets.

As you can see from the picture below, there is nothing you can’t buy on the streets!

The following picture reveals how shop-keepers routinely use the streets as their own private space and the residences above as well!

Every little bit of space is used, what with estate prices sky-rocketing in cities!

The best thing ofcourse is to carry the goods yourself. And this guy has saved himself the cost of a cart by simply arranging them on a stick. Creative huh.

Talking of innovation and creativity, this guava-seller has used his artistic skills to the hilt!

The photograph below depicts a very common scene in all Indian cities

Bags are a very popular street item!

The scene below is another typical street scene. All sorts of knick-knacks, ranging from plastic combs, sunglasses and mobile phone covers can be found on the streets.

As for what this guy is selling, one can only wonder!
