Great posts this week Nita and I really like like your weekend summary.

Congrats on the page rank although I have a beef with Google about how easy it is for your blog content to be stolen and how hard it is to get removed.

Nita, nice post. Children do play an important role in marriage. A friend of mine had lots of complications during pregnancy. I asked her why is it so important to have kids. She said- kids give a purpose to your life. I can understand what she means. I have observed one thing common among most Indian parents. They can't stop talking about their children even after their kids grow up and start living on their own.If not children it is their grandchildren they are talking about. The life of Indian parents revolve around their kids. From the moment they are born, parents start planning about their future and dreaming about their achievements and that gives them something to look forward in life.
Children do effect the health of a marriage. Parents act in a much more mature way after the birth of their kids because they are role models for their children especially when they are young. As far as finances are concerned parents know that financial planning is required before planning a family. The tolerance levels of the couple also increase after the birth of a child. Sometimes couples put up with each other because they know that their actions would hurt the kids. However the children can sometimes add to the tension of an already strained marriage . The parents start blaming each other if the children are not doing well in life.

Nita, my heartfelt congrtulations!!!

Now ler me use this post to quote my own post I wrote about yourself :) Most of the readers know the facts below, but it may be also intresting for your guests:

---------------------------------------

My favorite blogger is …… Nita Writer! Now let me explain the reasons this person and her great blog get my admiration and high appreciation:

she is a journalist and her approach is to show the best and the worst of her subject – India

she has a good style which is easy to read, her articles are long enough (but not too long!), very well researched and always up-to-date

she posts EVERY DAY (hats off!) and such a good stuff…

she takes good natural pictures that illustrate and support her words

she gets a huge number of comments, and what kind of comments! - one can see that people take her articles seriously and love to discuss the topics which are always captivating and eye-opening

she answers all the comments (!)

she actually has her own daily newspaper (this is my perception of her blog)

she LIVES the idea of blogging – creating great content for free, making people think about different important issues and thus making the difference

she dedicates lots of time, effort and love to her wonderful blog

she is my personal star on the blogging horizon
--------------

hope you dont mind this humble quotaiton ;)

I was never a Amitabh Bachchan fan, probable because i never saw many of his movies of 70's when he used to be a superstar

BUT

when i saw KBC, i witnessed something special on the small screen...what i liked most about Mr Bachchan was his warmth when he interacted with the participators, he looked classy, dashing, affectionate, natural and full of confidence

Also we got to know how Mr Bachchan talks as his own self and not as a character....and he won hearts of all of us acting as his own self , making KBC-1 the most successful show in the history of indian television

He showed that despite being among the elite of the country how he understand common men and their lives, afterall he rose to the hights on his own

while i never liked the show when hosted by SRK, he looked very tiny compared to the personality of Mr Bachchan...looked artificial and lacked natural warmth and affection

The difference between the KBC of Amitabh and KBC of SRK is the sheer difference in the screen presence of the two, SRK was too trivial if compared to Mr Bachchan

whether businessmen or film starts, they are doing good to our country by paying taxes and providing employment.
I dont understand when some people say, being an underdeveloped country we dont need individual rich..........and that too when these individual industrialists provide huge amounts as corporate taxes and generate employment which is vital for our economy

Its an excellent film with matter within it.
Though its not a film just to Rome around tree or some bulshit NRI carry-catcher.

Its very relevant movie and thanks to Ajay for portraying a strong message so efficiently and effectively. Society needs such kinds of movie more often. The value system is so poor today , this kind of film may give some punch. I know today's disco going crowd and sakira belly dance loving audience may found it complete bogus.

Pankaj Kapor is fabulous with his powerful acting.

My personal thanks to Ajay and all film unit for this movie

As an urban dweller myself -- and one living in a city desperate in a hurry to destroy everything that has been attractive about it (not counting Bengaluru and Pune -- those were not destroyed by their own inhabitants) -- I am keen not to deny MYSELF the rare pleasures of visiting places which are God's Own Country without the help of copywriters :-) .

Vivek,

I think I know the ground conditions that lead to naxalism-extreme poverty, exploitation and neglect. I don't even dislike the naxals as I know that they are just standing up for the marginalised, the deprived and the oppressed when the powers-that-be had failed to listen to moderate voices that warned us of a looming catastrophe, but instead continued to proceed with flawed economic policies. What do those who are victims of filthy concepts like "free market capitalism" do when no one listens to their cries for help? They take to the gun! I mean, one would naturally take to violence if peaceful protests go unheeded. I don't know why people do not understand this simple fact of life. If the violence has to stop, the oppression and the exploitation has to stop first! It simply cannot be the other way around! I am completely baffled why something as simple as this is not understood :-?

On the other hand I absolutely hate filthy concepts like "free market capitalism" that believe in robbing the poor to pay the rich. I would not spare even a cubic millimetre of my mind for such bullshit!

But I guess industrialisation and diversification of the economy is the only way forward for a country like ours with a huge population and limited resources. The Marxists in West Bengal have realised this. But due to the wrong way in which they proceeded with it-SEZs(Special Exploitation Zones as they have turned out to be in many cases), it has brought them into violent confrontation with the Maoists. Don't you think it is necessary for us to find a way forward with industrialisation and diversification without letting the corporate criminals who advocate "free market capitalism" get away with whatever they do?

Nita, Gandhis quote "hate the sin love the sinner" whether its america or india obesity rise exponentially we southasians have the higher probability of getting diabetic than our obese western counterparts. So dont emotionally react to Mr.Bush's comment we should introspect ourselves the reasons give by doctors why such alarming rate of diabetic in india was "our sedentary lifestyle, modern food habits and stress" so in this context we are changing our food habits its a fact who said is not important what said is important.

prax, if you're interested, here's an interesting take on the industrial process and its impact: http://www.fracturedearth.org/?p=225

I don't know enough about ground conditions in India, but I'd think that events like these maybe probably play some role in how and why naxals come about.

I was looking for a quote from Gandhi that is unfortunately not as widely known as the one about the earth having enough for everyone's needs.

This one seems particularly relevant to the present post. Here it is, taken from a blogger who has also done his bit to update MKG's data:

“God forbid that India should ever take to industrialism after the manner of the West…If an entire nation of 300 million took to similar economic exploitation, it would strip the world bare like locusts."
— Gandhi, 1928

==Notes about this quote, from some quick research by me====

NOTE: US population in 1928 was 120 million. India, apparently, was 300 million
(and that included present-day Pakistan and Bangladesh ~ Vivek).

The population of the US hit 300 million in 2006.
The current population of India is over 1 billion people.
The current population of China is over 1.3 billion people.

Draw your own conclusions but I'd say we're among the locusts, we're all swarming, and Gandhi was a visionary.

Brian

Starting from the quotation marks, the above (except my parenthesis) is taken from
dfwscooterist.com/forum/viewtopic

This one seems particularly relevant to the present post. Here it is, taken from a blogger who has also done his bit to update MKG’s data:

“God forbid that India should ever take to industrialism after the manner of the West…If an entire nation of 300 million took to similar economic exploitation, it would strip the world bare like locusts.”

Draw your own conclusions but I’d say we’re among the locusts, we’re all swarming, and Gandhi was a visionary.

Brian

Starting from the quotation marks, the above (except my parenthesis) is taken from
