Which is the best airline and airport in India?
The Air Passengers Association of India, a consumer rights organisation with a membership of over 10000 has presented awards for the best airline in India. The winners were based on votes cast by consumers, which included APAI members, aviation correspondents and frequent travellers from different industry bodies. Totally five awards were presented.
While the best International Airline award went to Singapore Airlines, the best full service carrier award for an Indian Airline was won by Jet Airways. However Kingfisher is catching up because it walked away with the best emerging airline award. The best low cost airline award went to Air Deccan.
There was an award for the best airport as well and here Mumbai scored. Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport was judged as the best airport in the country.
Not too many details were available on the parameters on which the airlines were evaluated but apparently the main parameters were “service efficiency and improvement in passenger facilities.”
I am not a frequent flyer, but my husband is. For several years he has been raving about Jet Airways, but of late he has started to prefer Kingfisher. He likes the service. Going by his experience, the awards seem to be bang on! As to the best airport, well, we believe that Mumbai airport is the best. Where low cost airlines are concerned, I have heard only complaints! But now we know which is the best. 🙂 However, I wish more details of the survey were available (they have not been put up on the APAI site). One thing I would surely like to know – which airline do consumers rate as the worst airline?
