Sudden showers in the western ghats

April 18, 2007

All of us wait for the monsoons every year…to get that respite from the harsh sun and the sweltering heat. And when the rain gods show themselves before time…the joy is greater. That is what happened to us yesterday when we made an unscheduled trip to Pune. A thunderstorm caught us on the way. The storm can’t be the pre-monsoons as its too early. Just a quirk in the weather I guess. The wind and the rain slowed us down but we enjoyed the ride.

Nita – your photos are fantastic, but I could not get them to enlarge from the thumbnails.
Must have been a most dramatic trip! I love the look of a good storm, and also like what it does for vegetation, and how, in the aftermath there is a lovely clean scent in the air.

April showers bring May flowers! I love unexpected bursts and the dramatic fluctuations. However, gone are the days when we never thought twice about quirky weather. Now, a burst out of the ordinary is cause for worry because of global warming and the devastation that follows. Though not always🙂

Suburban, I think you need Flash Player or something on your pc to see them. Thats what I think. It can be downloaded from the net.

I do agree about the love everyone have for monsoons. But what if it gets beyond its normal chores ? Ain’t that’s what is happening now ? I hate these unpredictable rains which force people to stuff themselves in concrete roof.

I guess the rains, specially in Mumbai, can be quite a drain on one’s energy! I guess it’s the child in us which enjoys the rains…don’t let go that child in you Arun.
