The Expansionist Meme
Nova tagged me for a meme which I thought was quite interesting as it makes one think of things that one should be thinking about but doesn’t! Here it is:
Please thoughtfully consider the following, and choose one item for each of the categories below. (Be sure to describe your reasons for choosing)
- One religious work from a non-familiar tradition you’ll read:
Any major tome on Buddhism. I guess that’s because I am agnostic and feel that Buddhism comes close to the ideas I have about God. - One music video-that you like-from your “least likely to listen to’ genre:
I never enjoyed rap music much until I heard this video called ban the crooked police by Blaaze. Sure, the lyrics moved me, but the music did too. - A book from a genre you almost never read, that you have read, or you will read (promise!):
I have a lot of books I want to read…but if it’s an unfamiliar genre, then it’s difficult to choose. Whether it’s a comic book, a publication, fiction or non-fiction, I’ve tried them all. This includes cookery books, self-help books, how to books, health guides, cheap thrillers, literary works, autobiographies and so on. Right now I have about 30 books on my to-read list! Just not finding the time! - Somewhere you’d never thought to go on holiday/vacation, and why it might be fun to go there?
I want to go deep into the Amazon jungles but never really think I can go there…because I am not sure if they allow tourists to venture deep inside the forest. I like to go to places which are different and can teach me something I don’t know. - A specific food you’ve never tried, but will because of this meme, honest!:
I love trying new foods… - A sport or game you really hate, or haven’t tried yet, but are willing to give one more go:
I always wondered what it would be like to play kabbadi π I like the energy of those players and the way they move. - A style of dance you probably won’t try (we won’t make you promise on this one):
Bharat Natyam or any classical dance actually coz I know I’ll suck at it! - A career job you don’t feel you’re suited for, and why:
Information Technology. Coz I am not technical – never was. - An item that’s “thinking out of the box’ for this meme that hadn’t been included:
What is it that you will dare to wear which you have never worn before??? But I am not answering this one! Let the ones I’ve tagged try to! - If there’s one thing in life you wanted to do, and will do because of this meme, what will it be?
I guess I can say bungee jump…but am too scared so no promises!
I am tagging a few people who haven’t been tagged yet for this meme, and who I think might do the meme…but no worries if you don’t. And if someone feels he/she wants to do the tag, please feel free!
Ruhi, Xylene, Axinia, Vishesh, Roop, Reema, Rambler, Christine, Laksh, Mish Lee, and Oemar.
very strange, I would have chosen buddhism too, am just reading “Tibetan art of living and death”, I have to say I am totally mesmerized.
apparently Tibetian monks are good at mesmerizing π
I heard about intresting connections between Lamas and Hitler…
Hi Nita, just to say that it is definitely possible to get into the Amazon jungle, including some very remote places. There are lots of eco-tourism projects where you can go and live with communities and learn their jungle craft. And by spending tourist money in ways that benefit the communities, we can help create a financial incentive to preserve these amazing wild places! I hope you manage to make it to the Amazon some day!
thanx for tagging Nita, I have done this meme already.
Amazon jungles???? oh the moquitoes there are worse than what u find in Indian cities.. π saw how people spend their time killing mosquitoes in Animal Planet. π
ohh kabbadi…we used to play that in school recess time..it was fun!! Nova has also tagged me to the same meme..Will do it soon especially now i have a ready made thinking out of the box question!! π
Ooops! I should have tagged Sakhi instead. Actually I was thinking that Nova had tagged her, I don’t know why! Anyway…- Nita.
>>>>>I want to go deep into the Amazon jungles but never really think I can go thereβ¦because I am not sure if they allow tourists to venture deep inside the forest. I like to go to places which are different and can teach me something I donβt know.
thats cool ..even i would liek to go to these places..with a surity that i would return back safely π
>>What is it that you will dare to wear which you have never worn before???
ha ha…i just cant of the bizarre answers that might comes out for that question.. π
lirone, that sounds very interesting! I would love to go there and spend some weeks in the amazon. sadly these things cost money and dollars! π¦
Xylene, am willing to brave the mosquitoes! I’ve lived in Africa where the mosquitoes and cockroaches are of gigantic size! π
Arvind, these places are not as dangerous as they are made out to be. I think today if there is a dangerous country it would be Nigeria. And why don’t you do the tag…I would be interested in your answers to that question!
ha,a tag at last π lol,i am sure going to do this one, real interesting π
@ nita
well,y i was saying abt the dangers was because they portray it like that on TV and movies. π
and well, abt the TAG …will try that..now i have a tag to do will make it a 2 in one now π
Hey!
Yes, like lirone said, its possible to venture deep inside Amazon, as far as you want to go. Start from Peru, its closer to the origin of the rainforest, more mountainous and definitely cheaper! There are touristy services (expensive, but easy to arrange) and non-touristy ones (cheap, but a test of patience).
Buddhism is definitely something to be fascinated about, but I don’t understand why Hindus find it fascinating. There is nothing I came across that exists in Buddhism but not in the unmeasurable umbrella of Hinduism. Unfortunately most Hindus don’t care to find out OR maybe I haven’t read enough. Anyway, this is off topic.
Nita, Bungee jumping is fun. π You need to try it out sometime!
Haha π Thought so!
Thanks for tagging me. π I’ll complete your homework today.
Sorry bout the delay, been busy with office and vacation lately. Here is the meme and thanks for tagging π
