Morning Walk Movie Review

July 10, 2009

This is a movie (directed by Arup Dutta) which should have been half an hour shorter. It isn’t just the song and dance in this film which is  irrelevant, quite a few of the dialogues seem fake…and the acting is mostly bad.

The film is about two lovers who meet when they are much older and how their love is re-kindled. However, if Anupam Kher and Sharmila Tagore give stellar performances in this movie, the acting of the others is jarring. It is quite impossible to recommend this film. The characters in this film are unrealistic and stereotypical and so is the way the events unfold. The theme of the movie, which is about how a man is torn between his present family and his old love, held some promise but its execution left much to be desired. The plot meanders far too much and we are left with a disjointed film…

Don’t you think this was a great opportunity to make a different movie which went phusss?

Reema, no I didn’t see shortcut. I saw Morning Walk only because I had to, for writing the review for the site.

Amit, I agree. Two wonderful actors and a great theme. Botched up by a novice. But its shocking that a well known reviewer has given it 3 stars. This movie is not worth that much and it is clear that the superstars in the movie (Anupam Kher and Sharmila) have the clout to influence reviews. I would have given this movie 2 stars although the online site which I wrote this review for has given it one and a half. Usually I don’t like to give stars at all, and like to let the reader decide the stars himself. I just like to explain what the film means and let each one decides how many stars to give.

Seems like an interesting plot, good candidate for going for a pirated download copy. hehehe 🙂
(PS: Hey did you write this post in a hurry?)

Priyank, I am not allowed to post the complete review here, it is unethical as I writing for another site. The complete review is available at nowrunning.com which is a site I write for at times. However I realised that it wasn’t clear that the rest of the review was available at the other site so I have made a slight change in the note at the bottom of the short excerpt now.
