Header Image Harihareshwar

1. This photograph of the HH beach was taken by my husband when we had gone down south to Harihareshwar. In fact the tide had gone out so far in the bay that one could almost walk to the other side! No, not really, as the other side looked much nearer than it actually was. When we went to the edge, we realised how far it really was. The comments refer to this photo.

2. The photo which is on now is another photo of the same area during our travels. Here is a link for anyone wanting to find out more about Harihareshwar. We stayed at the MTDC hotel and the experience was horrible. The rooms were unswept and the bathrooms filthy. The surroundings of the resort however is excellent, but MTDC cannot take the credit for that.

Where exactly is Harihareshwar beach? The photograph suggests somewhere in North Canara, but of course it could be anywhere on the west coast south of Goa.

This is in the konkan area on the western coast of maharashtra. We went to the MTDC resort.

I stand corrected. I wasn’t aware that the Sahyadris approached so close to the sea anywhere north of Uttara Kannada. And even the lush vegetation–nice to know it still survives, despite the horrors perpetrated on the landscape by the advent of the Konkan Railway.

Still, which taluka? Which is the nearest town? where do you turn off the highway, or get off the train?

Mangao is the nearest town abt 60 kms from harihareshwar. We drove from pune to mulshi and took the tamini ghat to reach mangao.
