Summary Post and Tags

September 27, 2008

Wrote four posts this week, which I am summarizing below. I would also like  to thank Jo and Itching to Write for honouring me with the Brillante Weblog 2008.

No reason for violence As if it wasn’t shocking enough to hear that a group of agitating workers bludgeoned to death the chief executive (Lalit Kishore Chaudhury) of Graziano Trasmissioni, India’s labour minister declined to criticize the attack, saying it “should serve as a warning for management…Here is something that went unnoticed, an ugly little speech by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram…these ministers epitomize what is wrong with India today…

Welcome to Sajjanpur – Movie Review I was expecting more from Shyam Benegal. I found the movie quite “bollywood” – not only was the story contrived, there were too many songs and even two dream sequences…Everything is authentic, the rustic characters, the scenery, the slice of life sequences…that is the charm of the movie…The story is about Mahadev, the letter-writer of Sajjanpur…During the course of his work he  comes across interesting people and becomes privy to their secrets…This gives the director an opportunity to show us fascinating vignettes of people and even if it doesn’t go into making a coherent plot…

Financial Sector tremors and the effect on fresh graduates The world of finance has been shaken by the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers…While all this will directly affect those employed in these companies and those with business interests in these firms, it’s going to impact campus hopefuls in a big way…fresh graduates will not rake in the kind of moolah their predecessors did, not in finance companies anyway…It’s not just the question of some prominent recruiters not showing up on campus as their companies have gone bust. It’s also the question of a large pool of experienced talent which is now out of a job…

Muslims turning away from terrorism but the world is against them
Surveys have shown that there has been a continuous decline of support for Osama Bin Laden and his brand of politics in Muslim countries…The latest survey from Pew Global has confirmed the growing opposition to suicide attacks in Muslim countries. The killing of innocents by terrorists has created a disgust for them in the mind of Muslims but unfortunately the killing of innocents by terrorists has created a hostility towards Muslims…

Tag 1

Suburban Life had an interesting tag…she asked her readers to fish out an old photo, preferably a couple of decades old, but not just any old photo. A photograph that shows the real person and taken when the person was unaware.

For me my identity as “Aai” has been of a major part of my adult life. Today this identity is changing as my first born is now living on her own and working at her first job. I am very proud of her as she is only 22 years old.

(photo now deleted)

Reema and Roop. They have to publish a photograph on their blog which was taken about 10 years ago.
I tag Shefaly, or rather challenge her to publish the photograph that she talked about in this post.
I tag Rambodoc to publish a photo of his when he was in medical college.
I tag Vishesh, even though 10 years ago he must have been a kid in shorts!

All these photographs need to be candid photos. No posed for photos. That is the RULE of this tag. If you have no photo like this, or are too shy to publish it, you are welcome to skip this tag. Those who do this tag can tag another five people.

I wish I could invent a tag challenging various bloggers to show themselves in an avatar…whether it is Poonam or Prerna or Xylene! But it’s okay, chill guys and gals. No such tag is coming your way!

Tag 2

Sharad tagged me with this one.

1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?
I will leave him.

2. if you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?
Being stranded on a desert island with my hubby.

3. What is your idea of a perfect date?
Just sitting in a secluded place, holding hands, and looking into each other’s eyes.

4. What would you do with a billion dollars?
Me and hubby will travel with some of it. The rest I might just donate!

5. Will you fall in love with your best friend?
I already have and am married to him.

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?
It’s always two ways, although ways of showing it are different.

7. How long do you intend to wait for someone you really love?
I don’t believe in waiting. True love doesn’t make you wait.

8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
I will look for someone else.

9. If you like to act with someone, who will it be? Your gf/bf or an actress/actor?
Can’t act.

10. What’s your favorite love quote?
I don’t know about quotes, but love is forever.

11. How would you see yourself in ten years’ time?
Getting to spend more time with my husband, with less pressure of work.

12. Why are you doing this tag?
Because I am a blogger.

13. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
A simple guy but smart.

14. Would you rather be single and rich or married but poor?
Happily married, whether poor or rich doesn’t matter that much.

15. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
With my eyes still closed, I feel the other side of the bed, to see if if my husband has got up.

16. Would you give all in a relationship?
Absolutely.

17. If you fall in love with two people simultaneously, who would you pick?
I don’t believe in falling in love with two people at the same time. That’s not love.

18. Would you forgive and forget, no matter how horrible a thing that special someone has done?
Ofcourse, as long as his love and faithfulness to me is intact.

19. If you get to go back in time and fall in love all over again, would it still be with the same person?
Yes. In any case, love just happens.

Thank you all for reading to the end!

“For me my identity as “Aai” has been of a major part of my adult life.”

I guess this identity will remain with mothers throughout their life. Its fun to watch pics with kids..they give you most unassuming expressions, just like the one in this picture.

  3. September 27, 2008 11:33 am

Nita – this is a delightful picture of you with your daughter and a soft attentive, absorbed look on both your faces. She resembles you then, it would seem – even has a similar brow line. I bet if portrait photographers could guarantee such lovely unspoiled pictures they’d make a killing.

The shot of you and your husband, I assume at your betrothal dinner, is very tender and you look beautiful and in love.

Thanks for doing this tag and sharing pictures of your life. G

  4. September 27, 2008 12:34 pm

You are very cute!! 🙂 This tag was brilliant and I have a feeling that all of us will end up putting our pics on our blog. This tag is going to be the next big tag doing the rounds. 🙂
After reading your tag, I feel that your life is so perfect. Its beautiful.

  5. September 27, 2008 1:00 pm

Reema, come back soon and hope you do the tag!

Rambler, thanks. I guess you are right. But at the same time I must add that my daughters have been very independent from a very young age and I like the fact that they are not clingy. But yes I guess a part of me will be always be mom!

Suburban, thanks. Actually, my daughter looks a lot like my husband although her face structure is like mine. That second picture was taken during the wedding. We have this lunch after the ceremonies are over and we have to feed each other as part of a ritual! It was great fun doing it although he almost bit my hand! 🙂

Amit, thanks. I loved the tag too and as no one will recognize me from that picture, I had no problem publishing it. And yes my life is good, but that is because I have never been very ambitious. I am content with the free-lancing I do! And nor do I cling on to my kids. I have seen a lot of moms unhappy as their kids grow up and start becoming independent but I always looked forward to it! As that is what we bring kids into this world for…to make them independent.
And I am lucky I found my soul mate. 🙂

    @ Nita:

I would gladly do this tag but I do not have a scanner. 😦 Neha of withinandwithout.com has promised to scan it for me sometime soon. I have tried taking photos of my old photos before but it does not really work (although I use one such image from age 2, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a summer dress on my Facebook profile).

  7. September 27, 2008 5:07 pm

Lol another tag 😉 ha will steal a photo from some album 😛 will see what i can find.. 😛

  8. September 27, 2008 5:09 pm

hey cheating cheating… that’s two posts combined into one… lol 🙂 Nita the pictures are lovely, esp the aai one where you look completely engrossed in your daughter. Pics taken when one is not posing – are usually the best ones.

  9. September 27, 2008 6:29 pm

You look very pretty as a young woman and in the marriage photo (is that a marriage photo?). I always feel this, your daughter must be proud of what you are now. I am hoping someday when my daughter grows up, she will be proud of whatever I am doing in future.

  10. September 27, 2008 6:31 pm

Ah, do you ever forget what you blogged about ages back? I suddenly remembered I did this photograph, consider it a voluntary contribution to your tag 😉

  11. September 27, 2008 7:07 pm

@Nita yes I will surely do the tag!! And U r pretty!!

  12. September 27, 2008 7:32 pm

That a good picture of yours. 🙂
You scared me there. I wouldn’t like to put up my picture on my blog 🙂 Avatar is a good idea. I am wondering which would suit me the best.

People would beat me up, if they meet me somewhere. My landlord is gonna be the first one. 🙂 I made her infamous didn’t I?

But then many have already dug out my name from Orkut ! 🙂

  13. September 27, 2008 9:03 pm

Shefaly, this picture which I published is a photo of a photo and that’s why it is blurred. You can try with a close-up setting of your camera and the result may not be too bad!

Vishesh and Reema, looking forward to seeing your pix.

Priyank thanks. true, candid pix are the best.

Dineshbabu, that is such a sweet thing to say! I am sure your daughter will be proud of you too…and you know I haven’t done much with my life! 🙂 I mean from the point of view of the world! I do some freelancing, a lot of creative writing, and manage the house. But yes my family is very proud of me. Guess it’s because I make them laugh. 😉 I am the clown at home! 🙂

Xylene, I know who you are and I know what you did. hehehe! Seriously, don’t you remember you started blogging with your real name? Those comments are still there on my blog! 🙂

Lovely snaps Nita. I am still drooling over the typical Maharashtrian lagnachi thali. It’s been ages since I tasted such food. 😦

  18. September 28, 2008 3:48 am

    Nita, YOU DID THAT! 🙂

I find it wonderful that you posted these very personal pictures of your. Both of them show you in a very loving and caring action…very enjoyable!

  19. September 28, 2008 6:44 am

Lallopallo, thanks. I can be quite “mad” according to my friends too, but I need the right company. One of my friends who is a fellow mad hatter has unfortunately gone to settle in America. I miss her badly, if not for nothing else than our crazy times together! If you ever come to India and want to do something crazy, contact me! 😀

    Nova, Arpit, Axinia, thanks.

jottingsnmusings, my favourite lunch is exactly that, lagnachi thali! Typical Maharashtrian.

  20. September 28, 2008 7:55 am

Great tag Nita! loved the pictures. I agree with everyone, your family must be very proud of you. They are very blessed 🙂

Hey Nita, what do you mean by , ‘if you ever come to India’..ofcourse I will be coming there (as a matter of fact, I still hold Indian Citizenship…) 🙂
Infact, my India visit is due next year..and most likely, I will be coming to Mumbai then..if Iam not mistaken, you also live in mumbai..right?
So, we can surely meet then and do all sorts of crazy things..:)

    Sound cool. 🙂 – Nita.

  22. September 28, 2008 11:14 am

Yippeee!! Finally! Nita’s snap!! hehehe!! The first one’s so cute! 😀

  23. September 28, 2008 7:05 pm

    Nita,
I am scratching my handsome head trying to figure out if the camera was invented at the time I was in college.
You will know the answer some time….
    Cute pics!

  24. September 29, 2008 8:49 am

    yes I know that 🙂
Then I decided to go anonymous.. well almost 😀
Many of the early blogs I commented on like yours, Anshul, Balu, Suda know me 😀

  25. September 29, 2008 12:16 pm

I love the word ‘Aai’. Lovely photos.Your daughter is as good looking as you are. It is an honour to be mentioned on your blog. I will sort out some old photos of mine and post them in a few days.

  26. September 29, 2008 12:18 pm

    As usual I missed(skipped 😀 ) your Summary Post and now I know what I missed! 😀

First of all, tell me, do you accept nominations for *donations* you will make? 😀
Second, your *nose* seems to remain on earth one more generation 😛
third, nothing, forgot what I was about to write.

    😀
    Cheers
(Should I specifically comment on photo? But I am not supposed to comment on daughter in front of her mummy 😛 )

  29. September 29, 2008 4:17 pm

    Kiran, Nikhil, thanks.

    Rdoc, looking forward to it

Xylene, I think you better remain anonymous because of your landlady! Or you can write another post telling everyone about her secret virtues! 😛

Prerna, I was always photogenic and I assure you that I was not that goodlooking. Though I wasn’t bad either! 🙂 What was worse was that I never bothered about my looks or my clothes much. My daughter on the contrary has turned out to be a beauty, the right combination of my husband and me! 🙂 And I am looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Sakhi, glad to see you here! And thanks!

Suda, you have uncannily said it perfectly right! My daughter has inherited my nakta nak! 🙂 As for my daughter I just hope she doesn’t mind that I published her photo! 🙂 So if you make any comment I shall get a scolding from her! 🙂 You see after a certain age kids start becoming mom to their moms.

Shefaly, thanks for doing the tag!

  31. September 30, 2008 7:24 am

Nice pics Nita. You have a striking resemblance to an aunt of mine in that wedding pic of yours. 🙂

  32. September 30, 2008 3:52 pm

Both the pics are too good 🙂 I loved the first pic in which you teaching your daughter to play with toys..!!!

  33. September 30, 2008 4:46 pm

    Nehru, and Manasa, thanks!

Amit, wonder what you aunt looks like now though! 🙂

  34. September 30, 2008 7:02 pm

So… u did it in the Summary Posts….

to be very frank I do not read your summary posts, as I read all your posts, so I dont think its necessary to read it.

Secondly I am way to lazy to scroll the page this down 😛 being in IT I know generally people hate scrolling thru pages and when a web page is developed its length is kept such that no scroll appears, until absolutely necessary.

Both tags are nicely done. You seem to be head over heels in love with your hubby.

And thanks for the compliments 🙂
